Hurricane Helene Makes Landfall

As of September 26, 2024, at 11:10 PM EST, Hurricane Helene officially made landfall just east of the mouth of the Aucilla River. This is about 10 miles west-southwest of Perry, Florida. Based on data from Air Force reconnaissance aircraft, the maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 140 mph
As Hurricane Helene impacts the Florida Big Bend, the next few hours are expected to be the most severe for the region, with challenging conditions expected across much of the Southeastern United States over the next 24 hours.
