We are still running on our natural gas-powered generator until the city begins to get power. Nearly all of the city lost power due to Hurricane Idalia.

The Valdosta area experienced heavy winds and heavy rain, and an estimated 90% of the city is still without power.

We lost power at about 10:30 this morning, and are running on our natural gas-powered generator.

Other than the lost of electricity, all residents are doing well.

Hurricane Idalia hit The city of Valdosta hard, and reports say power outages affect more than 90% of the area. We are included in that 90%.

We still do not have power and continue running off generator power.

Everyone is in good spirits, considering the weather event today.

The area is experiencing heavy winds and heavy rain, and we have lost power. Our generators are operating as planned.

All else is going well.

We are patiently awaiting the storm, and appears we are in the projected path after Hurricane Idalia makes landfall on the Gulf Coast.

Staff are now on rotating 12-hour shifts, the community has food and water for multiple days, and we have tested our generator and it is ready to go in case of a power outage.

At this time, we are fully operational.

We are actively monitoring Hurricane Idalia's path. Forecasts from the National Hurricane Center indicate we may receive lots of rain with high gusts of winds, but this depends on where the hurricane makes landfall.

The National Hurricane Center announced that Tropical Storm Idalia has officially formed. Per NHC, storm surge and wind watches for portions of Florida's west coast will likely be announced later today.
