This is the final update for the Idalia weather event.

Our visitors from Sunflower Springs at Homosassa who evacuated due to Hurricane Idalia are boarding buses at about 1 p.m. today to return home.

We are so glad we could help during this time and are grateful for our new friends!

Some trailing rain bands from Idalia are in the area; however, we are fully operational and have weathered the worst of the storm. At this time, we still have our guests from Sunflower Springs at Homosassa.

We made it through without any damage, but are still on high alert as the storm leaves the area. Idalia's outer rain bands are still present.

SRI Management's Senior Director of Experience, Rich DeLong, entertained residents and evacuees today. Rich always draws a crowd.

We have had rain today, but tonight will be the start of the heavy rains from Hurricane Idalia. They are forecasted to start between 10 and 11 tonight and last a few hours as the storm progresses north in the Gulf of Mexico.

We'd like to welcome residents from our sister community, Sunflower Springs at Homosassa.

With the safety of our residents and well-being in mind, local officials have mandated evacuations for our Sunflower Springs at Homosassa friends in anticipation of a hurricane landfall in the next few days.

The Sunflower Springs at Homosassa team has accompanied evacuees, and both of our teams are working together to prepare meals and accommodations for the new arrivals.

The National Hurricane Center announced that Tropical Storm Idalia has officially formed. Per NHC, storm surge and wind watches for portions of Florida's west coast will likely be announced later today.

We are actively monitoring the situation.
